ETHICS VS LAWFUL DECISIONS IN MARKETING

Ethics is different from legality.

A Lawful behaviour does not mean as ethical behaviour.

Lawful behaviour means observance of the law of land -ie what is lawful and what is not lawful.

But Ethical Behaviour means what is right and what is not right.

All Ethical Decisions are Lawful but all Lawful Decisions are not Ethical.

For example: Law may be that insurance advertisement must contain disclaimers and the company highlights the advantage in Bold Letters and Puts a Star Mark and writes the Disclaimer/risk factor at the Bottom in such small letters that even reading by a person with 6 by 6 eyes may get headache if dares to read . Company has followed law but not ethics.
